Movie action man Steven Seagal has revealed he is a cop in real life.

The Hard To Kill star has secretly been a deputy sheriff for 20 years while beating up bad guys on the big screen in his martial arts films.

In a new TV series, Steven Seagal: Lawman, viewers get the chance to see Seagal working as a policeman.

In the opening episodes, Seagal and his fellow deputies in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, tackled a suspected carjacker armed with a rifle and broke up a late-night car park brawl.

Seagal introduced the show by saying: “I make a living in the movies but for the past 20 years I have also been a cop. It can be very dangerous out on these streets, but nothing is more important to me than protecting the people of this parish."
