Lupe Fiasco to retire from rap

The Superstar hitmaker, real name Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, has taken to to announce his upcoming disc, entitled Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1, could be his final release.

In a series of posts, he writes, "I have spoken peace only 2 (to) receive vitriol and malice in return. My brother seeks destruction my sister seeks attention... paths to nothingness.

"This album will probably be my last... it's been a pleasure to have all my fans provide so much love an (and) inspiration for me and my family... but my heart is broken and I see no comfort further along this path only more pain. I cannot participate any longer in this... My first true love was literature so I will return to that... lupe fiasco ends here..."

Fiasco's announcement comes amid reports of a feud with fellow Chicago, Illinois MC Chief Keef, who he criticized when discussing crime in their hometown.

He said in a radio interview last week (ends01Sep12), "Chief Keef scares me. Not him specifically, but just the culture that he represents... The murder rate in Chicago is skyrocketing and you see who's doing it and perpetrating it, they all look like Chief Keef."

Keef hit back on Twitter by threatening to "smack" the hip-hop star.
