Horror fans can sink their teeth into a piece of iconic movie history now the cape used by Dracula actor Bela Lugosi is going up for auction.

Hungarian-born Lugosi is one of the most recognizable stars to play the vampire Count Dracula.

He starred in the Universal classic Dracula back in 1931 and even today fans reocgnise the actor as the King of Horror for his portrayal.

Now the black cape he wore in the movie is going under the hammer – and is expected to fetch a staggering $2 million.

Prior to his death in 1956, Lugosi gave the cape to his wife, Lillian, telling her that it was the cape from the film and to keep it for his son, Bela Jr. When Lillian died in 1981, the cape was given to Bela Jr. and has since remained in his possession.

A spokesperson for Profiles in History which is organizing the auction revealed: “Without question, this is the greatest single horror garment in cinema history."

The cape will be auctioned off as part of Profiles in History’s Icons of Hollywood Auctions from December 15 to 17 at the Paley Centre For Media in Beverly Hills.
