Lindsay Lohan charged with NYC assault and crash
NEW YORK, N.Y. - Actress Lindsay Lohan was arrested Thursday in New York City after police said she hit a woman during an argument, then hours later was charged in California for a June crash in which her Porsche slammed into a dump truck.
The "Mean Girls" and "Freaky Friday" star was arrested at 4 a.m. and charged with third-degree assault.
She left a police precinct nearly four hours later with a black jacket pulled over her head. She was wearing leggings, a green mini dress and high-heels, and drove off in a black SUV with a driver, a woman and another man who was seen going in and out of the precinct.
She allegedly got into the spat with another woman at Club Avenue, in Manhattan's Chelsea section. She struck the woman in the face with her hand, police said. The woman did not require medical attention.
Lohan's publicist did not immediately return a call for comment.
The arrest is Lohan's latest brush with law enforcement in New York City.
She was involved in a NYPD investigation in September after alleging a man had assaulted her in a New York hotel, but charges against the man were later dropped.
Also in September, the actress was accused of clipping a man with her car outside another Manhattan nightclub, but prosecutors chose not to move ahead with charges.
In October, police were called to her childhood home on Long Island after a report of a fight between her and her mother. An investigation revealed "no criminality."
Santa Monica Sgt. Richard Lewis said the California charges were filed Thursday morning, but he declined to release more details until a formal press release could be issued. Court officials could not immediately confirm the charges.
The filing comes nearly six months after the actress crashed while on her way to a movie set. She was taken to the hospital but returned to the set of the film "Liz and Dick" hours later.
Lohan's attorney did not return messages seeking comment.
The California case could trigger a probation violation for Lohan, who remains on informal probation in the state for a necklace theft.
In May, she was cleared of allegations that she struck a Hollywood nightclub manager with her car.
"Liz & Dick," in which she portrays screen icon Elizabeth Taylor, premiered on Lifetime on Sunday.
Lohan also recently filmed "The Canyons," an indie film written by "Less Than Zero" and "American Psycho" author Bret Easton Ellis.

There are a lot of celebrities out there who don't get into trouble...and people who think what lindsy does is ok...well come on...she puts herself in that position and she thrives on it....its her only recourse...u can't tell me that when she does something that would make other people do jail time is ok. She's ****....and she is the only one who can help herself...i don't agree with people who say that she's being dissed too many times and she doesn't deserve it...yes she does..she should grow up and get her priorities strait
Ok Lindsay, you are now left with 4 options: 1) Walk to your destination 2) Take a cab 3) Take the bus or 4) have someone drive you!!! No one appears to be safe when you are behind the wheel!!
Some ppl should not be issued drivers licences!!!!
Just so I am clear on this, after a few too many martinis and fat lines, she stole the necklace, drank some more, drove home drunk, side swiped a pedestrian, eventually made it to the nightclub and then smacked someone in the face?
Just the kind of person you want portraying Elizabeth Taylor. Hope she got paid millions by those responsible film execs.
In a weird way I pity this very immature child/woman, look at the dysfunctional family she comes. Her Father has obviously never grown up and her mother is an attention seeking excuse for a Mother. I'm not saying that this excuses her behaviour, but just adds to it. She should go to jail, serve her time, then disown her family, maybe then she might have a chance at a so called normal live. Drew Barrymore did it, and look at her now.
