The Bee Gees legend died on 20 May (12), aged 62, after a long battle with liver and colon cancer and grieving friends and relatives were asked to donate to hospice Rebecca House in lieu of sending flowers to the family.
Gibb's wife Dwina recently returned to the facility on the late star's native Isle of Man for the first time since they launched the hospice in 2008, and admits being back on the island without her husband is hard.
However, Dwina reveals visiting the young patients has given her some peace ahead of her first Christmas without Gibb.
She tells Britain's The Sun, “Going back to (our) house (on the island) without Robin is incredibly painful.
“Christmas without Robin will be hard for me. But coming to the Isle of Man and visiting the children at Rebecca House brings me solace. Robin felt so desperately sorry for all the children here. One of his last concerts was partly in aid of Rebecca House.
“Before Rebecca House, there was no hospice on the island for children. Parents had to take them to the mainland, which was costly and debilitating. He cared so much about children who were ill and suffering. And I am glad I am carrying on the charity work that meant so much to Robin.
“Being at Rebecca House, on the island where Robin was born, has been so very special for me. It has made me feel even closer to Robin than ever and, in a strange way, has brought him back to life for me again."
