REGINA - Saskatchewan is extending the deadline for a film tax credit after pleas from the production industry.

The government says applications under the existing tax credit can be made until the end of June instead of the end of March.

Culture Minister Bill Hutchinson says the extension will help the film industry take advantage of the spring production marketing season and wrap up business within the existing program.

The industry was left reeling after the tax credit was cut in the provincial budget last week.

Producers argue the move will kill the industry and asked Premier Brad Wall on Monday to reverse the decision.

Wall is standing by the cut, but he says there might be other incentives that the two sides can talk about.
