He had actually performed it at least three times in the year prior, often as a lead-in into "Purple Haze," but Jimi Hendrix's distorted rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the Woodstock Festival on the morning of August 18, 1969, is often seen as a political statement against the Vietnam War, with some claiming that his solo imitated the sound of falling bombs and machine gun fire. Hendrix himself never admitted as much, although he later told talk show host Dick Cavett that he meant no harm by it, and actually found his rendition, characterized by its alternately tender and violent melodies, "pretty."

Does Sean Plummer know anything about music? These are music's most shocking moments? Has this man ever heard of GG Allen? Does he not remember Ozzy bitting the head off of a bat? How could he do this article without the metion of Alice Cooper, the PIONEER of shock rock? Hello, have you heard of GWAR?

The moments of "shock" mentioned here are about as powerfull as the one you would get from a dead AA battery. Give me a break and do some research dude.

Was Sean Plummer actually paid for demonstrating his complete and utter ignorance of music history with this joke of an article? Hey Sean... Ever heard of John Lennon, the guy from the Beatles? Three things leap readily to mind from him alone.

Um, Arcade Fire's album 'the Suburbs' is a great great great album that should be on par with any other classic album of the ages, so I'm not sure why it's a shock. Oh yeah, good for you Esperanza Spalding!

I buy almost everything from here BESTWENEED,com Most people are not aware of the almost unbelievable deals that they can get from online auction sites I checked with the BBB and was told that it is all legit How they can sell gift cards, laptops, cameras, and all kinds of goodies that we all want for 50-90% off, I don’t know. I do know that I bought my son an iPad there for less than $100 and my husband a $250 Low gift cards for $48. Why would I even think about shopping anyplace else?
