Born Cornell Haynes Jr., Nelly stormed out of the American south in 2000 with his multi-platinum selling debut album, Country Grammar. Known for his characteristic facial band aid, the rapper continued to release successful albums throughout most of the decade, but after the relative commercial failure of 2008's oft-delayed Brass Knuckles, Nelly retreated to acting, making several guest appearances on CSI: NY. Finally ready to return to the musical spotlight, the rapper is readying Nelly, his latest album to feature his former rap group the St. Lunatics, for a March 2010 release.
