It wasn't surprising when some members of the NAACP raised a stink about the Detroit chapter's decision to give native son Kid Rock its Great Expectations Award. Kid Rock, after all, has often used the Confederate flag in concert, and his protesters see it as a symbol of America's racist past. For his part, Rock has said he sees it simply as a symbol of Southern rock & roll.
