If the 'early embarrassment' was a genre, the unearthed nude pictorial would be a big sub-category. Now that the Internet rules our lives, the starlets of today seem better at avoiding this pitfall but throughout the '80s and '90s, the nude pictorial was a staple of female celebrities.

Case in point: in 1982 pop singer/actress Vanessa L. Williams (then "Vanessa Williams") was forced to resign as Miss America when racy photos of the singer turned up in "Penthouse" (she's pictured above during a 1984 press conference addressing the scandal). Down but not out, Williams got to keep the crown and went on to release two hit albums and the perennial karaoke favourite "Save The Best For Last."
