"The record industry had been tumbling around me for 10 years... I never totally understood it because technology gives you more options, not less. You have a CD, you have the Internet -- Internet [is] a better tool, right? ... I felt I'd been lazy in a way by not really coming up with some sort of a solution... for how am I gonna put out a record? And you just could see five billion options all swirling around you but you weren't gathering together the clues and solving the mystery."
