- "Alcatraz" is one mid-season show garnering some early buzz. From "Lost" co-creator J.J. Abrams, the show focuses on a secret government unit tasked with prisoners who once vanished from the famous island jail. In tonight's episode, the team tracks a former inmate who has returned to plant bombs in populated areas of San Francisco. (Fox, Citytv)
- Of course, no new mid-season show arrived with more hype than "Smash." We'll see if the musical can sustain interest after its much-anticipated premiere with tonight's sophomore episode, in which Ivy and Karen work to please the director and Julia and Frank struggle with the adoption process.
