Each week, MSN.ca’s team of editors will be bringing you our five best bets for the upcoming TV week. Here are our picks for the week of Dec. 2 - 8, 2012:
Boardwalk Empire (Sunday December 2 -- 9 p.m. ET/PT, HBO Canada)
This third season of HBO's prohibition era gangster tale has easily been its best so far, matching stakes-raising plotlines and drama with sublime moments of poignant beauty -- and it all comes to a (most likely very bloody) conclusion in the season finale. With Nucky (Steve Buscemi) and Chalky (Michael Kenneth Williams) teaming up with Al Capone (Stephen Graham) to take on the menacing upstart Gyp Rosetti (Bobby Canavale) and his army, we're thinking this episode may make the last 20 minutes of The Wild Bunch look like an elementary school tea party.
How I Met Your Mother (Monday December 3 -- 8 p.m. ET/PT, CBS/City TV)
We hate to say it but this season of How I Met Your Mother has been... well... pretty bad. Everyone's plotlines seem to be wheel-spinning at best and at worst, downright mediocre. Still, things have been picking up over the last couple of episodes and this next one is promising to get things back on track. This week, Robin is determined to get Barney back no matter what it takes -- could we finally be close to discovering what leads to the two of them heading down the aisle "a little ways down the road"?
Victoria's Secret Fashion Show (Tuesday, December 4 – 10 p.m. ET/ PT, Global)
This year's show features musical performances from Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars. Oh, and there's also a bunch of ladies strutting around in ridiculously ornate lingerie. The special will include pink carpet interviews, model profiles and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the fashion show.
2012 Grammy Nomination Concert (Wednesday, December 5 – 10 p.m. ET/PT, Global)
LL Cool J and Taylor Swift host the nominations special with performances by Maroon 5, Fun., Ne-Yo and rock legends The Who. Awards season has officially begun and check out our coverage of the event as you watch along.
Parks and Recreation (Thursday, December 6 -- 8:30 p.m. ET/PT City and 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, NBC)
This one is a guest-star studded affair as Ron's wood-working award nomination dinner goes awry when ex-wife Tammy II (Megan Mullally) shows up while his new girlfriend, Diane (played by Lucy Lawless), is there. Meanwhile, Jerry hosts a holiday party at his home with his wife (Christie Brinkley), and some of his friends are shocked to find they were not invited.
